1993 PB Trade and Commodity Ltd, a Ghanaian subsidiary of PB Trade Marketing Inc. a multinational enterprise specializing in financial and trade solutions for large-scale development projects across emerging markets has once again, demonstrated its strong commitment to agricultural transformation and youth empowerment by sponsoring the 8th Agricultural Students Career Guidance and Mentorship Dialogue Bootcamp (AG-STUD), a flagship initiative by Agrihouse Foundation.
This strategic sponsorship highlights the company’s dedication to nurturing talent, driving innovation, and making meaningful contributions to Ghana’s national food security efforts.
Speaking on the motivation behind this partnership, Crescens Agyeman Badu, chief Investment Officer -Africa Investment and Financing for 1993 PB Trade and Commodity Ltd, explained that the AG-STUD Bootcamp initiative aligns closely with their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives and investment priorities, particularly the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2 (Zero Hunger) and 4 (Quality Education).
“As a company, we recognize that supporting students pursuing careers in agriculture is far more than a CSR activity, it is a deliberate strategic intervention.
We believe that, by investing in youth-focused agribusiness mentorship programs, we are actively shaping the next generation of agricultural leaders who will be instrumental in addressing food insecurity, promoting rural development, and sustaining the sector’s growth,” he stated.
1993 PB Trade and Commodity Ltd have over the years played a vital role in strengthening agrifood value chains by ensuring the timely and affordable availability of essential agricultural commodities.
We are deeply committed to empowering, youth smallholder farmers and traders through improved access to quality inputs, market intelligence, and financial services. Innovation and sustainability are at the heart of its operations, leveraging technology-driven logistics solutions to reduce post-harvest losses and enhance efficiency.
And our involvement in the AG-STUD Bootcamp focused on three core impact areas: workforce development, agritech innovation, and value chain strengthening.
Because we believe that cultivating a pipeline of well-trained agricultural professionals is critical to closing existing talent gaps, boosting productivity, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the agricultural industry.
We are very much impressed with the bootcamp particularly with the mentorship and pitch component which provided students with exposure to modern agricultural technologies, cutting-edge research methodologies, and digital farming tools.
This we believe have helped prepared the participants for promising careers in the agriculture sectors such as precision agriculture, climate-smart farming, and sustainable food systems which areas that PB Trade is particularly passionate about supporting.
“We were truly impressed by the innovation and relevance of the students’ ideas in the business pitches, the students showcased a high level of creativity and practical solutions and we identified the need for enhanced capacity building and support for this young student to succeed.
That is why we hope to continue our partnership with Agrihouse Foundation to deliver specialized workshops aimed at strengthening these skills across participating institutions,” Cresense Agyemang Badu added.
Looking ahead, PB Trade is planning to deepen its engagement by launching incubation and acceleration programs to help young agribusiness entrepreneurs transform academic concepts into commercially viable ventures. These programs will provide critical funding, mentorship, and access to technical and market support networks.
He further emphasized the broader economic importance of investing in agribusiness, underscoring its potential to address unemployment, alleviate poverty, and enhance food security amid rising global demand.
“Agriculture today goes far beyond traditional farming—it encompasses technology, entrepreneurship, logistics, and innovation.
Our investment in agribusiness is driven by the sector’s promise of strong financial returns while simultaneously tackling some of the world’s most urgent development challenges,” he concluded.
Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, expressed profound gratitude to 1993 PB Trade and Commodity Ltd for their invaluable partnership in sponsoring the 8th AG-STUD Bootcamp. She emphasized the critical role such collaborations play in advancing agricultural education and empowering youth across Ghana.
“We are deeply thankful to PB Trade for their visionary support and shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of agricultural leaders. Their sponsorship has provided students with vital mentorship and access to modern agritech innovations, reinforcing the importance of investing in youth as drivers of sustainable agricultural transformation.
Together, we are equipping young people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to overcome challenges in the sector and create impactful agribusiness ventures,” she said.
Ms. Akosa further highlighted that initiatives like the AG-STUD Bootcamp are essential to closing the skills gap in agriculture and strengthening the entire agrifood value chain.
“By working collaboratively, we are building a robust pipeline of talented professionals who will contribute significantly to national food security, rural development, and economic growth.
