Eventually all advocacies rooted around agriculture was established as many agronomists, both young and old have set the pace to sustain livelihoods.
Ghana’s popular actor, John Dumelo is one of the most successful personalities who has won for himself a great reputation, featuring in movies like ‘Baby Thief‘, 4 play, 40 Looks Good on You, A private Storm, A night with her, After the wedding, Beautiful Ruins, Blind Lust, Black men Rock and over 100 movies in 1991 at age Seven(7).
As his counterparts may venture into film production and more, Dumelo has set an enviable pace by using his influence to woo the youth in Ghana to veer into agriculture.
Most of his leisure times are spent at the farms as he owns over 2000 acres of farmlands that yields crop produce like rice, maize, ginger, mushrooms, cabbage, rearing snails and livestock.
What changed his mind about agriculture
Massively travelling around the country(In the year 2012 and 2014) and seeing many fallowing acres of land which could be used for farming in Ghana yet the country was only subjected to food imports, Dumelo took the initiative.
He believes the stereotype about agriculture can be abolished through the creation of awareness. Thus, the youth must on normal basis, be educated on the essence of farming and considering agriculture.
Actor cum Farmer Dumelo underscored his vision to overpopulate the agric sector with more youth through his influence and to reduce food importation into Ghana.
His Politics Engagement
On the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party’s campaign in 2016, John Setor Dumelo was one of the influential celebrities who campaigned for the John-Dramani led administration.
He was appointed to serve as a Director of Operations for PRO-NDC Youth wing. In July 2019, He contested in the NDC primaries as a parliamentary candidate. Emerged as a victor in the in the NDC parliamentary primaries to represent Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
On December 7, 2020, he lost the parliamentary elections to Hon. Lydia Alhassan for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
Early Life
John Dumelo was born on February 3, 1984 in Ghana and had his basic education at Christ the King School in Ghana.
He then had his secondary education at Achimota Senior High School and got admission into Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to pursue Civil Engineering. Currently, John Setor Dumelo is an actor, politician and farmer who is married to Gifty Mawuena Dumelo with a child.
