Tomorrow, Thursday ,February 29,2024 ,Accra will witness a momentous gathering as over Ninety-Six (96) Paramount And Sub-Queen Mothers, representing all sixteen regions of Ghana, alongside esteemed representatives from Academia, Policy, Government, Development Agencies, And Agricultural Institutions, will converge at the GNAT Hall for the 6th edition of the “Gathering of the Royals” event.
Organized by Agrihouse Foundation, the annual Gathering of the Royals serves as a pivotal platform for royals, traditional leaders, and corporate stakeholders to collaborate and advance progress within the agricultural sector.
To be held Under the theme “Seed of Change: Cultivating Gender Equality in Agriculture and Honouring Women’s Advancement,” this year’s gathering emphasizes the critical importance of gender parity in agriculture and celebrates the indispensable contributions of women to the sector’s growth and sustainability.
In a statement ,Ms. Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, emphasized the profound significance of the event, stating, “The 6th Gathering of the Royals is not merely a convergence; it is a catalyst for transformative change. Our esteemed queen mothers will spotlight successful agricultural modules and illustrate how their strategic partnerships with stakeholders are amplifying social and economic impacts in their respective regions, districts, and communities.”
Ms. Akosa further stated the event’s overarching vision of empowering women farmers in rural areas, stating, “Our aim is to emerge from this gathering armed with concrete measures that can be translated into policies and community interventions. We are determined to mobilize and empower more women farmers across rural landscapes through the unwavering commitment of their queen-mothers and collaborative efforts with traditional leaders, corporate entities, academia, government, and development partners.”
In addition to the Ninety-six Queen Mothers and Traditional Leaders, the event is expected to draw approximately two hundred and sixty five (265) Women Farmers And Farm Associations from across the sixteen region s of Ghana and seventy women Agri-processors commanding value and volume with the agricultural sector ,participate will also include dignitaries from diverse sectors such as development partners, government agencies, private institutions, academia, research associations, and civil society organizations.
The 6th Gathering of the Royals promises to be a day filled with enriching discussions, strategic networking opportunities, and forward-thinking policy direction. Ms. Akosa reiterated the imperative of mobilizing and empowering women farmers, underscoring the collective responsibility shared by traditional leaders, corporate entities, government agencies, and development partners in driving equitable growth and development in the agricultural landscape.
the half day event has for the past 5 years , successfully served as a leading platform for these royals ,to engage in meaningful conversations, sharing their experience as farmers and insight on how they can effectively partner with corporate institutions, development organizations and government agencies to enhance the agricultural sector ‘s overall progress.
These women leaders discuss the key issues they face in their respective regions and communities ranging from access to resources, market challenges and the need for sustainable and smart Agricultural practices.
They collectively brainstorm and explore innovative solutions to address these challenges, with the ultimate goal of fostering a thriving and an inclusive agricultural sector.
