In a statement, the Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, highlighted the growing relevance of the awards in promoting inclusivity, empowerment, and national recognition for women in agriculture. She emphasized that the award is dedicated to acknowledging and supporting women working across the agricultural value chain, while celebrating their achievements and encouraging others to follow their lead.
“The Gold in the Soil Awards continue to uncover and amplify the incredible contributions of women across Ghana’s agricultural landscape. These women are the backbone of rural development, and their resilience and leadership deserve national recognition. she stated.
“We are calling on women in agriculture to boldly nominate themselves, and for others to nominate women and supportive men who are excelling in their fields. Whether in farming, processing, extension services, agribusiness, fisheries, or innovation this is your opportunity to shine a spotlight on their exceptional work and commitment,” she added.
With an average of 500 nominations received annually, the process leads to the shortlisting of 45 inspiring women whose stories are featured in an Agrihouse Foundation documentary series.
This year, the Gold in the Soil Awards will recognize women across 18 distinct categories: Super Woman Farmer Award, Passion for Farm Award, She Innovates Award, Climate Smart Women Project Award, Outstanding Woman in Extension Services Award, Royal Agro Award, Diamond in the Rough Award, Feed to Foods Award, Change Champion Award, Development Partner Award, Lady of the Export Region Award, Supportive Agri-Man Award, Star Woman Agripreneur Award, Agri-Input Sales Woman of the Year, Princess Carla Award, Woman in Fisheries Award, and the ultimate Gold in the Soil Award.
