Global Affairs Canada has reaffirmed its commitment to providing comprehensive support for the agriculture sector in the country, by actively assisting and empowering women farmers.
Speaking at the launch of the fifth Annual Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum (WOFAGRIC) and Gold in the Soil Awards, held in the Eastern Region, the Second Secretary of Development for Global Affairs Canada, Madam Candace Holt, highlighted the significance of projects like WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards in promoting sustainable and empowering women farmers.
”Global Affairs Canada takes pride in the longstanding partnership with Agrihouse Foundation, over the past five years, this collaboration has yield remarkable results, driving positive change in the agricultural sector and providing essential support to women farmers and agribusiness professionals”.she stated
Global affairs canada, have also provided financial services that enable women farmers to access technology and equipment, reducing the labour-intensive nature of post-production activities. This approach aims to enhance the productivity and efficiency of women farmers, ultimately improving their livelihoods and fostering economic empowerment.
The Women in Food and Agricultural leadership training forum WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards have been instrumental in recognizing and celebrating the achievements of women in agriculture and promoting sustainable agribusiness practices. These awards serve as a platform for displaying excellence, inspiring others to strive for similar achievements, and facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration within the agricultural community.
