The two self-determined women farmers, who are both nominees under the category ‘Super Woman Farmer Award,’ are also residents of Adamkologa, in the zebilla constituency of the Upper East region.
Alima Wahabu is widowed with 5 kids. Narrating her story in the Gold in the soil Awards Documentary, produced by Agrihouse, she tells the Foundation, currently, she receives no support from her late husband’s family.
Her sustenance and support has come from farming the piece of land given to her by her father some years ago. Now she has invested wholeheartedly in farming maize and soyabeans, which she does committedly to take care of her father and her five children.

She shares in the documentary, the full extent of her investment, her challenges and the support she needs now to keep her going.
The second nominee, Madam Yesara, has 2 acres farmland of Maize and Soyabean. She is also into the rearing of animals; Cow, Poultry, Guinea Fowl and Goat. Her passion for farming and the agricultural sector, she says, is far greater than any form of physical disability she has in her life, “being physically challenged doesn’t limit me in any way, I can do everything like any other person,” she affirms about herself in the Gold in the Soil Awards Documentary. The GOLD In the Soil AWARDS, is an annual awards scheme, solely dedicated to contribute in strengthening and projecting a paradigm shift of celebrating women farmers, processors, marketers and women who are playing a role within the agricultural value chain, including women into Transportation, packaging, Technology, input dealers, etc.
The Awards moves from Region to Region yearly to search for these extraordinary women who contribute significantly to putting food on our tables daily. Their story is shared and broadcasted through a documentary series by the Agrihouse Foundation Team.
