Broadspectrum Ghana Limited, the leading information communication technology company in Africa have presented a cheque of GHc80, 000 towards the 2021 National Farmers’ Day celebration to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA).
Presenting the check on behalf of Broadspectrum limited, Mr. Razak Awudulai, Group Chief Executive officer of Broadspectrum Ghana limited said, the company was delighted to be associated with the day’s celebration and saw the donation as an obligation in helping to honour the hardworking farmers whose efforts are the backbone of the economy.
“We consider farmers to be pivotal to our business and any effort to appreciate them aligns with our goals, hence our decision to support the national farmer’s day celebrations,’’ he said.
“Our business is centred on the farmer and so our vision is to make farming sustainable to provide food and jobs for Ghanaians,” he added.
Speaking to the media at the presentation of the cheque in Accra on Monday, the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture (in-charge of Food and Crops), Mr. Yaw Frimpong Addo, thanked Broadspectrum Ghana limited for their contributions towards the event.
“This contribution will help in honouring the gallant farmers who work assiduously to ensure that we achieve the mission of ensuring food security and producing for industries,” he said.
He said this year’s event was designed to consolidate gains made from the government’s flagship agriculture programme, PFJ.
“Thanks to the Planting for Food and Jobs programme, food, especially grains, are in abundance in our country. The Planting for Food and Jobs started in 2017 and we have come very far but we need to push it a little higher,” Mr. Addo who is also the Chairperson of the National Planning Committee of the annual event said.
According to him, the PFJ was a flagship agricultural campaign of the government, with five implementation modules.
“We hope Broadspectrum Ghana Limited coming on board the national farmer’s day as an information Communication Technology Company will motivate other companies in the value chain to come on board to support our gallant farmers and this is also our way of telling the country how important ICT is to the Ghanaian farmer,’’ said Mr. Awudulai.
The National Farmers Day celebrations will take place in Cape Coast in the Central Region on December 3, 2021, and will be on the theme: “Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ)— consolidating food systems in Ghana.”

The quick and easy farmer enumeration steps are outlined as follows;
- A National ID, preferably the Ghana Card MUST be provided for registration eligibility.
- Farmer picture and biometric details taken
- Digital Address of Residence recorded
- Farm Information recorded; i.e., farm location, farm size, crop type & Animal Husbandry
- Information is synced into the database and sent for Quality Assurance
- Data is carefully and thoroughly checked by Quality assurance and linked to the National ID system for validation.
- All valid registered farmers on the E-Agric Platform will be issued with a Farmer Verification Number that qualifies them for any subsidy redemption.
- For All National Subsidy programs, a farmer just has to present any of the following for easy redemption: A printed Farmer Verification Number; Farmer Phone Number & Farmer SMS token.
Registered farmers are linked to the Agric value chain – Agro processors, Input providers, Mechanisation services, Finance and funding partners, Farm and Health Insurance, Weather services and modern farming techniques.
