The Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa (COFAAA) has congratulated Mr. Randy Abbey on his appointment as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), following the announcement made by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.
In a statement, COFAAA expressed its full support for Mr. Abbey, acknowledging his appointment as a significant development for the Ghanaian cocoa sector and the African cocoa industry as a whole. The organization, which advocates for the rights and welfare of cocoa farmers across the continent, highlighted the importance of this leadership change at a time when the cocoa industry is confronting numerous challenges.
“Mr. Abbey’s leadership comes at a crucial time for the cocoa sector, with pressing issues such as climate change, fair pricing, and the need for more value-added products. We believe his experience and commitment to the cocoa industry will guide COCOBOD through these challenges and position Ghana’s cocoa industry as a beacon of sustainability and innovation on the global stage,” said Comrade Adeola Adegoke, President of COFAAA.
COFAAA further emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between COCOBOD and stakeholders in the cocoa value chain, particularly the farmers themselves. The association looks forward to working closely with the new CEO to promote initiatives that will directly benefit cocoa farmers, improve their livelihoods, and ensure long-term growth and sustainability for the entire African cocoa industry.
“As an organization dedicated to the welfare of cocoa farmers, we are excited to join forces with COCOBOD under Mr. Abbey’s leadership. Together, we can ensure that cocoa farmers across Africa are empowered and that the industry continues to thrive,” added Adegoke.
In closing, COFAAA reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting COCOBOD’s mission and expressed confidence that Mr. Abbey’s appointment would bring positive transformation to the Ghanaian and African cocoa sectors. The association is eager to witness the advancements in the cocoa industry as Ghana remains a key player in the global market.
