In Ghana especially northern region, farmers are heavily burdened with the added problem of poor access to quality agricultural inputs, namely improved seed, agrochemicals, and fertilizer, agronomic training, extension services, and market linkages.
Demeter Ghana Limited (DGL) recognizes these challenges and has developed a successful approach to meet that need. On the issue of fertilizer, government through a number of ongoing fertilizer subsidy interventions continues to tackle the situation while calling on private sector organizations within the agricultural value chain to build collaborative efforts and partnerships which help address the challenge.
Founded in 2014 as a two-main project, Demeter Ghana Ltd is one of the leading agricultural inputs and specialist services providers in Ghana, trading across the nation in fertilizers, seeds, soil amendments and specialty inputs. As well as supplying agricultural inputs, Demeter offers a range of agronomy services including soil testing and agronomy advice.
Demeter equally provides excellent fertilizers that are helping farmers across the country maximize their yields and integrally living up to the company’s vision of connecting small farmers in the industry to knowledge, resources and collective growth.
DGL participated in this year’s 12th Pre-harvest Agribusiness conference and exhibitions event organized by Agrichouse Foundation in Tamale, as corporate sponsor and exhibitor. The event annually brings together companies that are into agriculture.
It serves as a highly engaging training platform, capacity- building and exhibition time for all actors within the Agric value chain, helping them add to their knowledge and skills through practical sessions including field demonstrations, commodity breakout sessions, gender workshops, corporate development conversations and showcasing successful agribusiness modules and exhibitions.
Speaking in an interview with Zaa news, the Company’s Agronomist and Salesperson, indicates ”the annual event is a platform that brings the needs of our target (farmers) to our doorsteps, which makes it easy for us to access information”. ”We want to continuously attain all-year round sustainable production through enhancing small-scale farmers towards the best use of land”, he noted.
He says the pre-harvest conference creates an environment for them to be able to engage all key players to achieve their mission. ”With this platform we are able to speak with all stakeholders to find solutions,” he added.
