The Chief Executive Officer of Boris B Farms, Dr. Boris Baidoo, has issued a call to Ghanaians to rally behind local poultry farmers and businesses by consuming locally produced poultry.
Speaking at the launch of the third edition of the Ghana Chicken Festival, organized by Agrihouse Foundation, Dr. Baidoo emphasized the significance of supporting local poultry and highlighted its advantages for both the economy and personal health.
According to him, Ghana’s poultry industry faces a significant challenge of low demand for locally produced poultry and poultry products, largely due to the influx of imported frozen chicken and parts. Dr. Baidoo explained that consuming local poultry not only supports local businesses and farmers but also offers superior health benefits because Locally produced poultry is fresher, more nutritious, and contains less fat, making it a healthier choice for consumers,he however encouraged Ghanaians to patronize and consume more locally produced poultry product.
Dr. Baidoo also commended Agrihouse Foundation for their efforts in organizing the Ghana Chicken Festival, which has emerged as a vital platform for local poultry farmers and businesses to showcase their products and engage with consumers. He added that the festival plays a significant role in raising awareness about the benefits of consuming local poultry products and aims to inspire greater support from Ghanaians towards the thriving local poultry industry.
The Ghana Chicken Festival scheduled to take place on july 1st 2023 at the forecourt of the state house , is an annual event that encompasses exhibitions, cooking competitions , and tastings, focusing on various aspects of poultry production. It provides a unique opportunity for poultry farmers, processors, and stakeholders to connect, exchange ideas, and stay updated on new technologies and innovations within the sector.
The Ghana Chicken Festival contributes to the growth and advancement of the poultry industry in Ghana. The festival also plays a crucial role in generating employment and income opportunities for local farmers, processors, and entrepreneurs.
