The Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, has emphasized the importance of encouraging more youth to venture into agriculture, stating that their participation can contribute significantly to food security and economic growth in the country.
Highlighting the various aspects of agriculture, including agribusiness, agro-processing, and value addition, the Deputy Minister assured the students of government’s support in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in the sector.
He also reiterated the Government’s commitment to mentoring and guiding young people interested in pursuing a career in agriculture, promising to provide the necessary support to empower and equip them with the skills and knowledge required to succeed.
‘’ Agriculture plays a significant role in providing food and raw materials for various industries, which contribute to economic development of the country, so with the advancements in technology and a growing demand for sustainable and organic produce, there is a need for young people to explore the different aspects of agriculture, indeed more young people should consider venturing into agriculture as it presents numerous opportunities for growth and innovation.” he stated
According to him, the Government and other Stakeholders are making efforts to support entrepreneurship and innovations in the Agriculture Sector,with the aim of creating opportunities for young people to succeed. Adding that with the right support and guidance, the youth can build successful careers in agriculture, contributing to the growth of the sector and making a significant impact on the country’s economic development.
He made this call during his Keynote address at the ongoing Agricultural Students Career Guidance Mentorship Dialogue and Bootcamp, aimed at equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career in agriculture.
The Agricultural Students Career Guidance Mentorship Dialogue and Bootcamp provides a platform for students, agricultural professionals, and policymakers to discuss key issues and opportunities in the sector, providing mentorship and guidance to young people interested in agriculture. The event aims to encourage the youth to consider agriculture as a viable career path to contribute to the growth of the sector.
