Professor Ransford Edward Gyampo, the newly appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), conducted an inspection tour of the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal (BILT) in the Ashanti Region on February 10, 2025. This visit aimed to assess the progress of the $330 million project, which is a pivotal component of Ghana’s Trade and Investment Gateway (GHATIG) Program.
During the tour, Prof. Gyampo engaged with key project stakeholders, including Dr. Justice Amo, CEO of Justmoh Construction Ltd., the project’s contractor; Ing. Jarra Siddique, Project Manager; and consultants Dr. John Koranteng Yorke and Ing. James Ofori-Boamah from Vision Consult. These discussions centered on the project’s advancement and the importance of timely financial support to ensure its successful completion.
The BILT project is designed to enhance Ghana’s logistics and transportation infrastructure, facilitating transit trade with landlocked neighboring countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. It is also expected to stimulate economic activities within Ghana’s middle belt, particularly in the Ashanti Region.
Prof. Gyampo expressed satisfaction with the quality of work accomplished thus far and commended the predominantly Ghanaian team for their professionalism and dedication. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the project’s timely completion, emphasizing its strategic importance to national development.
Upon completion, the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal is anticipated to significantly boost international trade and improve the socio-economic status of communities in Ghana’s middle and northern regions.
