The Ashanti Regional Minister of the Pig Farmers Association (PFAG), Daniel Yaw Siaw has beseeched the public especially pork lovers to accept increment in the prices of pig products.
Earlier communicated, the increment takes effective on September 20,2022 following price hikes in other food commodities on the Ghanaian market.
Mr. Daniel Siaw mentioned that the operation is geared towards salving the pig farming industry as it has previously experienced series of setbacks from the African swine fever disease outbreak.
‘…Businesses who could not access compensation for culling their animals have not been able to bounce back’ – He noted.
The challenges of the pig farmers included the rise in the price of pig feeds and battling of the swine fever disease.
The government was called upon to recompense piggery businesses and other pig farmers that could not recuperate in their quest to battle the animal threatening virus.
Live Pig will be sold at Ghc.18 while the carcass of pig (pig meat) will be sold for Ghc.28 per kilogramme respectively.
