Mr. Philip Abayore in an exclusive interview on GBC’s Uniiq FM Breakfast Drive on the commemoration of 38th National Farmers’ Day, added that when government support ADB to operate as a tool for Agriculture development it would resuscitate the agriculture system in Ghana.
“ADB can borrow, on whatever condition or interest rate to farmers, and then the incentives in your incentive, you will get from that fun as a bank, were asking you to borrow this fund, from you pick it the fund from the virtual fund, lend it to only Agriculture oriented activities” he said.
Mr. Philip Abayore former Agriculture sector has done better than today. “We were even doing better previously than today” he said.
He also mentioned that during 1984, they had a robust financial system even though farmers do not get financial assistance easily.
“During 1984, we had a very good financial system where farmers don’t get credit very easily”.
But with this catalyst, we’re able to produce enough food. And the following year, between 1984 to 1985, we exported food to Zimbabwe and Tanzania in spite of the drought.
Mr. Philip Abayore was a district best farmer in 1987, and the Reginal best farmer in 1988. He was also the second national best farmer in 1989.
