The Steering Committee Lead for the World Food Forum (WFF) Ghana Chapter, Anthony Aidoo, is set to participate in the Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) World Food Forum flagship program in Rome, Italy.
This prestigious event to be held from October 14-18,2024, will bring together global leaders, experts, and stakeholders in the agricultural sector to address pressing food security issues and explore innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture.
His participation in the World Food Forum Flagship event will provide a significant opportunity to showcase WFF Ghana chapter’s effort they are making in Ghana , as well as to engage with international partners and stakeholders to share best practices. challenges in achieving food security, as well as to engage with international partners and stakeholders to share best practices.
In a statement Mr. Anthony Aidoo expressed, The WFF Ghana Chapter’s committed to inspiring the next generation of leaders who will drive innovation and sustainability in agriculture, participating in this event will provide us the unique opportunity to learn and grow the World Food Forum Ghana Chapter.
He emphasized the Chapter’s commitment to inspiring the next generation of leaders who will drive innovation and sustainability in agriculture.
“Participating in this event is not just an opportunity for us; it’s a chance to learn and grow the WFF Ghana Chapter,” Aidoo stated with enthusiasm. He expressed his eagerness to engage with experts and thought leaders from around the world, recognizing the invaluable insights they can offer to help shape strategies back home in Ghana.
Aidoo highlighted that his participation aligns with the WFF Ghana Chapter’s mission to promote sustainable agriculture and ensure food security for all citizens. He plans to advocate for increased investments in agritech and innovative farming methods, which he believes are crucial for empowering local farmers and improving food production.
“I look forward to sharing our experiences and challenges with fellow participants,” Aidoo continued. “Gaining knowledge from this forum will allow us to drive impactful changes within our agricultural sector. Together, we can create a future where sustainable practices are at the forefront of food production, benefiting not only Ghana but the global community as a whole.”
Throughout the week, attendees will participate in a Youth Forum where a Youth Assembly involving young people discussing specific policy topics and issues within agrifood systems will take center stage. The Youth Forum will also feature live pitching sessions, workshops and exhibitions that will highlight groundbreaking agricultural startups and youth-led initiatives, all aimed at driving innovation in the sector. It will also include a Global School Assembly inspiring the next generation of agrifood enthusiasts, advocates and practitioners.
Over fifty(50) WFF National Youth Chapter leaders will also be present best practices in building all-inclusive national youth-led agrifood platforms that would be able to address localized challenges, within the agrifood systems.
Some other key events in the Forum include the Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum, a platform for national authorities to present investment opportunities to investors, development banks, the private sector and donors. The Forum will also involve the Rome Water Dialogue, where experts will address the pressing issue of water scarcity in agriculture and feature a dedicated session on Family Farming.
The World Food Forum is an initiative aimed at transforming the global food system by fostering dialogue and action among youth, policymakers, and the private sector. Participants will engage in discussions on key themes, including climate change, nutrition, and sustainable agricultural practices, all crucial to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
