Despite a significant number of individuals engaging in farming activities within the community, the local market fails to adequately support their produce. To address this pressing issue, the farmers are appealing to the government to consider establishing an agricultural factory in the Oti Region.
In an interview with Agriwatch News, the farmers expressed their concerns regarding the limited market opportunities for their primary crops, such as plantains, cassava, bananas,Cocoyam, maize and more.
The farmers emphasized that the proposed agricultural factory would not only alleviate the challenges they face but also generate employment opportunities for the local youth. By providing a stable market for their agricultural produce, the factory would enhance the livelihoods of farmers and contribute to the overall economic development of the Oti Region.
Through their plea, the farmers hope to capture the attention of the central government and seek its support in establishing the much-needed agricultural factory. They firmly believe that with governmental assistance, the region’s agricultural potential can be fully realized, benefiting both farmers and the broader community.
