Fourteen Business Executives are expected to show off their exceptional culinary skills at this year’s 2nd edition of the ‘Ghana Chicken Festival,’ (GHA-CHICK), with the anticipation of winning the ‘Best Chef’ title.
Powered by Agrihouse Foundation, the full day family and recreational event, highlights the importance of the poultry sector to Ghana’s economy, whiles campaigning for the patronage of locally produced chicken and shining light on job opportunities within the Poultry industry.
The ‘Best Chef’ Competition, which is a major aspect of the annual event, gives platform to notable business executives and CEO’s to serve as advocates for the poultry sector, by encouraging Ghanaian restaurant owners, hotels, local food vendors, households and individuals to patronize and consume locally bred fowls.
Last year, renowned Media Practitioner, Mr. Kafui Dey, won the cooking competition, and in an interview, he described the GHACHICK Festival as the kind of event that allowed stakeholders to throw more light on issues related to the country’s poultry industry.
“Ghana Poultry has been in the news a long time and it has always had challenges like competition from around the world, but this will actually throw some light on the issues. Also, it is a family event which promotes networking,” he said.
Other cooking competitors included Mr. Ameyaw Debrah, CEO of ameyawdebrah.com; Mr. Eric Nesta Quarshie, Business Development Manager of OCP Ghana; Mr. Kojo Soboh, CEO of Emy Africa, Mr. Selom Amevor, Communications Maanger of ADB, Madam Rebecca Aboagye, President of Nyonkodo farmers Association, among others.
Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa-Sarpong, said this year’s edition would be an improvement on the maiden event, which brought together over Fifty (50) Households, to relax and network at the event, and in the process, gained access to Poultry farmers and companies who are now supplying them directly on a regular basis.
She said the event also led a highly successful advocacy drive through radio and other media campaigns, to promote the poultry industry and poultry products. Consequently, the event has opened up markets for Poultry farmers, processors and actors
Highlighting activities of the event includes, live band music, cooking competition among CEOs and public figures, alongside other side attractions activities like bouncy castle, face painting, board games, to create fun and excitement among families, organizations, and individuals who will be patronizing the event. Entry is free for all.
