The AgriTech West Africa with Food and Beverages and FoodPack Tech Ghana, this year hosted over 100 companies in exhibition across the agricultural value chain right from India, Turkey, Nigeria, South Africa, Italy, France and the UK amongst many other countries.
The expo, organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, The Ministry of Food and Agriculture with outstanding support from the West Africa Chamber of Agriculture (WACOA), Ghana Union of Traders Association, Food and Beverage Association of Ghana, Federation of Farmer Organization Network of Ghana, Federation of Ghanaian Exporters Organization, Guzakuza and many other agric regional cooperative groups; brought together multiple product segments like agriculture technology, irrigation, feeds, agrochemicals, food processing and packaging technologies, food innovation, processed and packed food & beverage items…
…And with over 5000 Ghanaian West African business and professional visitors, directly and indirectly, linked and related to the sector from agribusiness sectors, commercial and small farmers, and farmer groups, food & beverage industries; importers, distributors, wholesalers, retail chains and supermarkets of foodstuffs and agriculture items, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Michael Baafi has urged Ghanaian farmers to adapt to technological methods of farming to improve food production and income.
At the Agritech West Africa Expo 2023 held at the AICC, He highlighted that agric value chain actors are able to attain an integral benefit from the agriculture industry, should they adapt to modernized trend of farming with the appropriate engaged technology.
However, farmers were encouraged to take farming as a commercial business other than a local activity so as to amass needed profits since ‘agriculture is lucrative’.
Hon. Baafi Michael also went on to commend the Project Director of the organized expo and stated that the expo is a grounds for agricultural advancement in the country and goes a long way to be a platform of knowledge-sharing, skill development and expansion of Business-Business agreements.
In conclusion, stakeholders, farmers, consumers, processors from the agric value chain as well as the masses were called upon to partake in the 3-day Agritech expo and derive the necessary knowledge to help scale up production and improve income.
