Agrihouse Foundation has launched the 12th Pre-harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibitions, in Accra, on the theme, “Connecting the Unconnected: The Farmer- the Market and the Buyer.”
In attendance were sponsors and collaborating institutions, as well as representatives of farmer groups.
The 3-day #marketlinkage event will take place in the Northern region, from Tuesday, October 25 – Thursday, October 27. The venues will be the Aliu Mahama Sport Stadium in Tamale, and the Agrihouse Agri-Village Training, Apprenticeship and Demonstration Centre, in Bamvim.
Executive Director, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa revealed the platform has generated an estimated 5 billion USD of businesses for participating companies; through Exhibitions, Farmer-Buyer Matchmaking Training and Capacity Building Sessions Field Technical Demonstrations and Farmer Apprentice Program.
She urged more agribusinesses and value chain actors to make the most of the platform this year, to connect with Farmers, Market and Buyer, in line with the theme.
Representing Yara Ghana, Lead Sponsors of the event, Digital solutions Manager, Mr. Kwame Okyere, stressed on the significance of digitalization to the agricultural sector, while highlighting innovative ideas and tools Yara will be introducing at this year’s event.
Representing GIZ-MOAP, also sponsors of this year’s 3-day MarketLinkage Event, Inclusive Business Models Expert, Mr. Rueben Binpori, reiterated GIZ-MOAP’s financial and technical commitment Pre-harvest, and used the opportunity to outline agric-related projects the European Union is funding in the country, through GIZ MOAP.
While highlighting challenges and successes of Ghana’s agricultural sector, the Chief Director of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, Alhassan Issahaku reiterated the Council’s commitment to Pre-harvest and called for more support stakeholder for the event, which he described as integral to the growth and sustainability of agric value chain actors in the country.
Representatives of farmer groups in attendance shared positive testimonies, experiences and impacts the event has had on their businesses, in the areas of Exhibitions, Farmer-Buyer Matchmaking, Training and Capacity Building Sessions, Field and Technical Demonstrations and Farmer Apprentice Program. They therefore urged more farmers and agribusinesses to make the most of the platform.
