The leading plastic manufacturing company in Ghana and across West Africa, Qualiplast Ghana Ltd, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the 2026 call to action, building on its contribution toward the success of the 2025 agenda.
The pledge was made by the company’s Deputy General Manager Andrea Akl during the 2026 8th Gathering of the Royals held at the GNAT Hall in Accra. The event, organized by Agrihouse Foundation, was held under the theme: “Seed of Change: From Leadership to Legacy – Women Transforming the Agrifood Systems.”
Addressing over 700 Queen Mothers, Market Queens, and stakeholders from across the country, she explained that the initiative reflects Qualiplast’s core philosophy as a solution-driven company, one that listens to its customers and responds with practical, innovative solutions. Rather than simply producing goods, the company works closely with farmers to understand and address their specific challenges.
She noted that this approach informed their support for the event, where the company donated poultry equipment, including chicken feeders, water fountains, and egg crates, to promote agricultural development.
Reinforcing the company’s commitment, she emphasized that agriculture remains at the heart of livelihoods in Ghana and expressed appreciation to farmers and Queen Mothers for their vital role in feeding the nation.
According to Andrea, continuous engagement with farmers has helped the company gain deeper insight into real challenges affecting productivity and market supply. She added that Qualiplast has already introduced products that are helping to reduce post-harvest losses, particularly within the tomato value chain.
“One of the major issues raised by farmers was the high level of post-harvest losses during transportation,” she explained. “This was largely due to the use of wooden crates, which often have splinters and poor aeration. In response, we worked closely with farmers and market stakeholders to develop a reusable plastic crate designed to minimize damage.”
She added that the improved crates eliminate splinters and provide better aeration, significantly reducing losses during transportation.
At the end of the event, the Executive Chair of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, expressed appreciation to all sponsors especially Qualiplast Ghana Ltd for their continued support and innovation in advancing sustainable agrifood production.
She noted that the Gathering of the Royals continues to serve as a leading platform for dialogue, capacity building, and action-oriented discussions among Queen Mothers and Market Queens, who play a critical role in driving growth and development within Ghana’s agricultural value chain.
