The Regional Department of Agriculture in the Northeast region has warmly embraced the 1H1G initiative by working hand in hand with Agrihouse Foundation on implementing and training women and persons living with disabilities in approximately 9 communities.
By far, Additional 600 beneficiaries are supported with gardening starter packs including vegetable seeds, watering cans, organic composts, pesticides, fencing mesh and seedlings to establish their vegetable backyard gardens to improve food safety.
Mr. Nasarah Edward, from the regional department of Agriculture shared his thoughts on the impact the 1h1g project has had on persons with disabilities and most vulnerable women who were given the opportunity to partake in the capacity training session.
He elaborates that a lot of vulnerable women in the North east region have previously suffered poor nutrition and food insecurity.
However, the implementation of the 1 household 1 Garden initiative will enhance food security and proper nutrition in various households.
In his quest to endorse the project, Mr. Nasarah admonished a continuum of the Agriculture Regional Department’s partnership with Agrihouse Foundation to ensure the excellent execution of the project on deck.
A warming welcome of the 1h1g project also had 30 sub-chiefs in the region, present a live sheep to the Executive Director, Miss Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, to appreciate the thoughtful and life-changing course.
Vison Impaired Beneficiaries speech on the 1H1G training session
A vision impaired and beneficiary of 1H1G, Mahami Fusheina also expressed her gratitude to Agrihouse foundation, USAID, and AGRA for having their backs.
“I’m a backyard farmer and through this training, I know that before nurturing, I have to sterilise the soil; this will help us a lot by producing fresh vegetables and eating fresh vegetables and even selling some. May Allah bless you all for training us, thank you…’. Ms. Fusheina noted.
Another beneficiary, Madam Lamisi Moses from the Nalerigu Community also spoke in excitement after the training, encouraging Agrihouse Foundation and its partners, Agra Ghana and USAID to keep up with the life-changing project to improve sustainable living and food safety.
That notwithstanding, Mr. Kpanzuran Musah, a chief representative added that the people in Dagbri-boa-ri will put to use the knowledge and skills acquired from the Capacity training.
The wheels of the 1H1G initiative will pass through 2,000 households within 17 districts and 10 public schools in the Northern, North East, Upper West, and Upper East regions on general garden management to improve sustainable livelihood.
