Agromonti commits supports towards “The Gathering of the Royals”

Agromonti Company Limited, a leading provider of agricultural inputs and services in Ghana, has committed both financial and technical  support, towards the ‘Gathering of the Royals’ event, an Agricultural resilience building platform for Traditional leaders to discuss and strengthen working relations with Corporate bodies, to influence sustainable farming.

Making the Presentation on behalf of the Company, Mr. Benjamin Offei, Managing Director of Agromonti stated that, the intent of the event deeply aligns with the Company’s vision of continuously seeking to create sustainable economic, social and environmental values for all value chain actors in the country.

An initiative of Agrihouse Foundation, the developmental-Influencing event, will have a representation of about fifty (50) queen-mothers and farmers from the 16 regions of the country. There will also be representatives from Academia, policy, Government, development agencies and Agric institutions, who will have in-depth discussions on issues impacting farming and agric related activities, within their respective regions, identify common working path, that will help all parties practically address these issues, in the hope of empowering and further building a vibrant, active, structured and a more stable environment to develop sustainable farmers.

As part of the activities for the half-day event, there will be a Panel Conversation, with a thematic focus on Working Together: Role of Royals and the Corporate in accelerating Agri-Peace and Developing Sustainable farmers.

The Panelists for the session will include Nana odeatwon II, Divisional queen-mother, Ketekrachie- Oti Region,  Portia Asumda, Leader of Kosanaba Women Farmers & Processors  Group, Bawku West, Upper East Region, Nana Akua Amoah II, Tuobodom Queen-Mother, Bono east and Ayisheitu Nahanadu Asaki, Queen-mother of Zebilla, Bawku west District.

Others include Nana Akosua Bempomah, District chief farmer, Sekyere-kumawu – Ashanti Region, Mama Dzitri Novuiango II, Divisional Queen-mother of Nkonya Tradional area.

There will also be a Contributors session, which will have key industry leaders and decision-makers, making input, aimed at informing Policy direction in favour of women farmers and development activities.

The half-day Program will also have the Hon. Member of Parliament for the Klottey Korle Constituency, Hon. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, leading the Call to Action session, which will guide and build the working path and manual for Royals and Agricultural businesses, who are already working or hope to work within these communities, through the Queen-mothers.

Concluding the meeting and making final remarks will be the Hon. Minister of Chieftancy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, and a representative from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and members of the Parliamentary select committee on Agriculture.

Our Guest Speaker, H.E. Shlomit Sufa, the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, will also highlight the role traditional leaders have played over the years, in building sustainable Agricultural systems.

Agromonti’s Benjamin Offei has assured his Company’s commitment to build and solidify a working relationship with the traditional leaders, that will see the company, not only training the farming communities, but supporting them with inputs, in their quest to also build sustianble farmers.

Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, Ms. Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa Sarpong, organizers of the event, said about a hundred (100) stakeholders have so far confirmed to be present. We are happy there is a great mix and balance, right from companies into fertilizer, irrigation, ICT, Finance, Tractor and Equipment, Machinery and Marketing services.

We are also happy that, representatives from Government agencies, donors and development partners will be present. We are excited about the discussions we are going to have, the working relationships we are going to build, the impact we are going to make, in strengthening and building sustainable farmers, she stated.

She also expressed her gratitude to some of the companies, who have contributed in kind and in cash towards the organization of the event, including,  Eco Africa Resource Group, WAATCO,  Nanam Ventures, Benyima Farms and C. Woermann.

The Gathering of the Royals will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the GNAT Hall, Accra.
