The Agricultural Technical Vocational Education and Training for Women Project (GIZ ATVET4W Project), facilitated by GIZ and the African Union Development Agency, have presented some training and technical materials to Agrihouse Foundation, as part of a Capacity Development Program dubbed, “Gender Makes Business Sense.”

The items donated to Agrihouse Foundation included a brand new HP Laptop, a three in one photocopy, printer and scanner, a box of Gender Makes Business Sense Training Manuals, a brand new projector and tablet.

Presenting the items on last week Friday, the Corporate Advisor of GIZ, Ms. Sara Jabril said, the ‘Gender Makes Business Sense,’ Program seeks to empower women in the agri-foods sector; to help them develop their leadership skills and further take up leadership roles within the value chain.

She said the Program focuses on developing business skills of agriwomen, whiles tackling gender issues and dynamics that affect the development and progress of women in the agricultural space, “so that women can profit more from increased income,” she noted.

The Technical Advisor, Mr. Michael Boateng said even though statistics show that about eighty percent of Ghanaian women work in the agric space, they continue to face many socio-cultural issues that hinder their progress in the agricultural sector.

He expressed optimism that Agrihouse Foundation will make the most of the training and technical materials, as they are incorporated into the training and capacity building projects facilitated by the Foundation.

Receiving the items on behalf of Agrihouse Foundation, in the company of the Foundation’s General Manager, Mr. Michael Opuni-Frimpong , the Executive Director, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa thanked GIZ ATVET4W Project for supporting Agrihouse with the training and technical materials, which she noted would be utilized effectively in the various training and capacity building projects facilitated by the Foundation.

She said Agrihouse Foundation is looking forward to more collaborating and partnerships with GIZ, as the two organizations work together to strengthen the existing working relationship.
