The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) is set to organise this year’s Horticulture Expo in Accra, to connect Ghanaian exporters to the international markets.
The expo will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) from June 11 to 13, this year, to provide a platform for Ghanaian exporters to forge partnerships for expansion of their businesses.
The three-day event is on the theme:”Innovate, Transform, sustain: Driving Growth in Ghana’s Horticultural Sector”.
During the media launch of the Expo in Accra, Mr Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur, the CEO of GEPA, said the expo fell in line with its National Export Development Strategy to market Ghanaian products on the global stage.
He, however, underscored the need for the products to be innovative and add value to them so that they become competitive on the international stage.
The second edition of the expo is expected to attract over 400 exhibitors and 5,000 participants both locally and internationally, to engage in business-to-business meetings, networking and seminars.
It would also enable exporters to be competitive on the global markets, adopt innovative approaches in doing business and adding value to their products.
Some of the key commodities that would be promoted and highlighted during the expo included coconut products, mango, pineapples, sweet potatoes, onions and growing of chillis.
Mr Arthur said the expo was coming at a time government was charting a new path under its Accelerated Export Development Programme (AEDP).
The export strategy, he explained, aimed y to supporting Ghanaian businesses and exports to access new markets and increase their competitiveness on the global stage.
For instance, he said, Ghana’s participation in the Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Germany, in February 2025 generated $255 million in exports to the nation.
Meanwhile, Mr Davis Narh Korboe, the President of the Federation of Association of Ghanaian Exporters, said the Association’s target was to exceed five billion dollars in non-traditional exports over the next two years.
