The President of the Queen Mothers Foundation, Nana Amma Serwaa Bonsu, has called on stakeholders to support the upcoming 8th edition of the Gathering of the Royals.
Nana Amma Serwaa Bonsu, who is also the Queen Mother of Kayera in the Offinso District of the Ashanti Region, commended Agrihouse Foundation for its consistency in organizing the annual event, which continues to impact agricultural development across the country.
She made these remarks during a press briefing held on March 16, 2026, at the Agrihouse Foundation office in Dzorwulu, Accra. The event is scheduled for March 31, 2026, at the GNAT Hall.
According to her, the Gathering of the Royals has become one of the most respected platforms for discussing grassroots agricultural challenges. It provides an opportunity for policymakers, investors, financial institutions, and development partners to engage directly with traditional leaders who are actively involved in farming.
She emphasized that the initiative remains the only major platform that brings together Queen Mothers from all 16 regions of Ghana who are not only leaders but also hands-on farmers making meaningful contributions in their communities.
Also speaking at the event, Angelina Essieh Tommor, Principal Registrar at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, noted that the program has over the years highlighted the critical role of Queen Mothers in community transformation.
She explained that their contributions to promoting food security, supporting women farmers, and advocating development continue to make a strong impact nationwide. She further assured of the Ministry’s commitment to support initiatives that strengthen knowledge sharing, build leadership capacity, and improve food systems.
Meanwhile, the Southern Sector Manager of GLICO, Emmanuel Parker Nyarko, pledged long-term support for the event and encouraged farmers to insure their farms against unforeseen risks.
The Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyea Akosa, revealed that this year’s edition will introduce new interventions, including the distribution of day-old chicks to participating Queen Mothers.
She added that the continuous support from partners reflects the growing impact of the initiative. The 2026 edition will be held under the theme “Seeds of Change: From Leadership to Legacy,” highlighting the vital role of women as the backbone of agriculture, in line with the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
The event will showcase inspiring stories, challenges, and successes of women in agriculture, while also exploring how stakeholders, including insurance providers, are contributing to transformation within the sector.
