The Volta Youth in Agriculture have commended Hon. Dr. Andy Osei Okrah and his team for successfully hosting the maiden Ghana Tree Crops Investment Summit and Exhibition at the Accra International Conference Centre. The landmark event, organized by the Ghana Tree Crops Authority, brought together key stakeholders from Ghana and abroad to deliberate on the future of the nation’s tree and industrial crops.
In a statement , the organization highlighted Hon. Dr. Andy Osei Okrah’s dedication to fulfilling the Authority’s mandate to regulate and create a conducive environment for the growth of tree crops, including oil palm, cashew, rubber, coconut, mango, and shea. The summit provided a platform for knowledge-sharing and data-driven discussions aimed at encouraging youth participation in agriculture, emphasizing its potential as a viable career and economic opportunity.
“The Ghana Tree Crops Authority’s commitment to enhancing the production and promotion of tree crops is a beacon of hope for us, the youth,” the statement noted. “Agriculture should no longer be seen as a last resort but as a first choice. It is a chance to create jobs, build sustainable communities, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economy.”
The youth urged their peers across the country to embrace agriculture, stressing that cultivating crops is equally about nurturing dreams and creating transformative change in local communities. “Together, we can turn Ghana into a powerhouse of agricultural innovation. The Tree Crops Authority believes in us, and now it is time for us to believe in ourselves,” the statement added.
Special recognition was given to Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, for enabling the Volta Youth in Agriculture to attend the summit. The youth also pledged their continued support to Hon. Dr. Andy Osei Okrah and his team, affirming a shared vision to strengthen Ghana’s tree crop sector.
