The Country Director of Rainbow Ghana Limited, Mr. David Oware Ansong, has challenged young agriculturists to rise beyond academic qualifications and become practical solution providers who can drive meaningful change within Ghana’s agricultural sector.
Addressing participants of the 8th Agricultural Students’ Career Guidance and Mentorship Dialogue Bootcamp (AG-STUD Africa 2025) during an industry visit to Rainbow Ghana’s operational base, Mr. Ansong underscored the urgent need for young professionals who combine technical knowledge with innovation, integrity, and responsiveness to the needs of farmers.
“The agriculture sector needs young professionals who can bring practical solutions to farmers and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s economic transformation,” he said.
Mr. Ansong encouraged the students to take their learning seriously and continuously equip themselves with relevant skills. He cautioned them against time-wasting habits, especially the misuse of digital tools, and instead urged them to use technology for research, knowledge acquisition, and professional development.
He emphasized that success in agribusiness goes beyond academic degrees, noting that character and ethics are just as critical to building long-term credibility in the field.
“Integrity, work ethic, and the ability to listen and respond to the needs of farmers are essential qualities. Farmers don’t just need advice they need the right solutions delivered with consistency and care,” he noted.
Highlighting the operational approach at Rainbow Ghana, Mr. Ansong pointed out that the company places strong emphasis on farmer feedback and product relevance.
“Our goal at Rainbow is to bring the right solutions to farmers. When they give us feedback, we don’t ignore it—we implement it. That should be your mindset too: solve problems, don’t just talk about them,” he advised.
The visit forms part of the AG-STUD Africa Bootcamp’s broader agenda to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice, by exposing students to successful agribusiness models and experienced professionals across the agricultural value chain.
Organized by Agrihouse Foundation, AG-STUD Africa is a flagship initiative that prepares agriculture students and young graduates to transition into competitive, entrepreneurial, and leadership roles in Ghana’s agrifood space.
