In fulfillment to last years ,7th Gathering of the Royals Call-to-Action, Agrihouse Foundation has distributed 4,800 Day-Old Chicks to sixteen Queen mothers across the nation to be donated to young people in their respective communities to start their poultry farming businesses.
The session led by the Chief Patron of the Gathering of the Royals, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, served as a powerful proof of concept, demonstrating feasible impacts of agribusiness transformation.
Last year, traditional leaders and stakeholders pledged to create clear, sustainable pathways for young people to enter the poultry value chain, which was honoured during this year’s 8th edition. Through the revered Queen Mothers, acting as the primary conduits for community development, starter packs were handed over to young women representing all 16 regions of Ghana.

Each “business-in-a-box” starter pack was meticulously curated to ensure the survival and profitability of the birds, including:
High-Quality Day-Old Chicks (Nkoko Nkititi) sourced from Kuipers Breeders Ghana, featuring world-class Dutch genetics for superior growth and disease resistance.
Essential “Jumpstart” Inputs: Premium feed and critical vaccines to safeguard the chicks during their most vulnerable early stages.
Professional Tools: Practical farming equipment, such as feeding and water trays, to move small-scale operations toward professional standards.
Leading the distribution, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized that the move is a fulfiment of last year’s Call-toAction which sought to support young people with day-old chicks which forms part of the foundation’s nkoko nkitinkiti project. As she supervised the handover of the chicks, the Chief Patron noted that these birds represent more than livestock, they are a “living legacy” of the Queen Mothers’ commitment to their communities.

The Executive Chair of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa stated that initiative is a cornerstone of a larger vision to make agriculture economically viable and attractive” for the next generation. It is a move to improve livelihoods by creating opportunities for young people.
By equipping young women with fully vaccinated, high-productivity chicks from Kuipers Breeders Ghana, the initiative is actively contributing to the nation’s broader food security goals. It represents a shift from subsistence to professionalization, where the youth can earn a dignified living while feeding their communities.
