The World Food Forum (WFF) Ghana Chapter has successfully hosted its first National Assembly in Accra – Ghana, bringing together its National Steering Committee and Regional Focal Leads from all 16 regions of Ghana together.
The National Assembly forms part of the WFF Ghana Chapter’s innovative communication and localized approaches to influence stakeholder engagement, by leveraging localized community activities, that will drive youth engagement, while fostering collaborations and sustainable development in Ghana’s agrifood sector,
The Assembly provides a platform for the National Steering Committee and the Regional Focal Leads to collectively assess challenges at the community level, develop strategic solutions, explore emerging opportunities, and design impactful youth-led initiatives that seeks to bridge the gap between regional and national food security efforts.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Anthony Aidoo, the Chairman of the National Steering Committee, commended the Chapter’s leadership and focal leads for their dedication to driving agrifood transformation in Ghana.

He stressed the importance of sustained efforts in advancing the Chapter’s vision and urged them to intensify their initiatives to ensure lasting impact.
“We are laying a solid foundation at the regional level, and the work you are doing is a testament to the power of youth-driven leadership in agriculture.
However, we must do more. The success of our mission depends on consistent action, innovative thinking, and unwavering commitment to our communities, agrifood systems and the agriculture sector as a whole,” Dr. Aidoo stated.
Adding her voice, The Director for Social Protection, Mrs. Philipa Mensah, in her key message, indicated the active roles women play in addressing the pressing challenges, associated with food security, climate change and agrifood system.
She stressed the importance of empowering young women to take on leadership roles in agrifood systems, ensuring gender inclusivity in our collective transformation agenda.
Further, she urged the Regional Focal Leads to incorporate women-centered activities into their regional calendars.

“Our collective future depends on the full participation of young women in shaping our agrifood sector. I urge all regional focal leads to be intentional in engaging, empowering, and positioning women as key drivers of sustainable agricultural development,” Mrs. Mensah emphasized.
Officially opening the agenda for the Assembly, the National Director of the WFF Ghana Chapter, Ms. Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, announced that the Chapter is preparing to host its flagship program dubbed, ‘’THE GHANA FOOD DIALOGUE’’ in June 2025.
This event according to her seeks to bring together key stakeholders from across the food supply chain and system to delve deeper into discussions, focusing on the future of food and the critical role Ghanaian youth play at its core.

“We will also strengthen our partnerships and actively participate in this year’s Ghana Poultry Day. Additionally, for International Youth Day, we will be heading to the Northern Region to conduct a training workshop at one of the girls’ schools,” Alberta added.
She called on all Regional Focal Leads, to be fully committed to action, reinforcing the pivotal role of Regional Focal Leads in achieving the Chapter’s broader mission.
She challenged them to remain focused to their communities and drive impact through well-planned, results-oriented activities.
“Our mission is not just about ideas; it narrows down to our ultimate passion and power, to take actions and deliver measurable results.
We must remain grounded, driven by purpose and guided by the ideals, aims and goals of the Global World Food Forum blueprint. By this we can drive a youth-led action movement with a clear vision and sustainable goals, that will feed into our commitment to contribute in building and strengthening the future of Ghana’s agrifood sector.
The strength of our Chapter lies in transparency, trust, and credibility and these values must be the upheld at all levels of our engagements,” Ms. Akosa stated.
She further emphasized that teamwork and collaboration would be the driving force behind the Chapter’s sustainability, growth, and influence.
She urged the Regional Focal Leads to embrace innovative thinking and forge strong partnerships that would enhance the value, visibility, acceptance and credibility of the WFF Ghana Chapter.
The Project Director for the WFF Ghana Chapter, Mr. Kwame Sekyere, urged all Regional Focal Leads to share their 2025 Project Calendar and dates, to enable the National Steering team, plan ahead and contribute meaningfully, both technically and financially, to achieve the desired results.

The Regional Focal Leads outlined their strategic plans to drive awareness and enhance visibility for the WFF Ghana Chapter through strengthened partnerships with stakeholders, youth and government institutions at the regional level.
As part of their commitment to advancing the Chapter’s mission, they highlighted key activities such as roadshows, mentorship programs, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at deepening stakeholder engagement.
Reaffirming their unwavering dedication, they pledged to ensure that the aims and objectives of the WFF Global and WFF Ghana Chapter are fully realized in their respective regions.
Additionally, they committed to intensifying efforts in mobilizing and engaging young people in agrifood systems, implementing innovative strategies, and leading impactful initiatives that contribute to sustainable agricultural development and food security across Ghana.
The first National Assembly, served as a knowledge-sharing, networking, and strategic planning platform.
A total of twenty (20) participated, including Sixteen (16) regional focal leads and all four (4) country Directors.
It reinforced the WFF Ghana Chapter’s commitment to bridging gaps at both the regional and national levels by equipping young leaders with the tools, resources, and networks needed to drive agrifood transformation.
