The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing agricultural development as preparations begin for the 3rd edition of the Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA).
The renewed commitment was highlighted during a courtesy visit by Agrihouse Foundation led by its Executive Chair Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa to the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council in Techiman, where discussions focused on building on the success of last year’s event and outlining plans for the upcoming edition of the Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA).
The visit was to formally express appreciation for the Minister’s support towards the successful organization of the 2nd Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA) held in Techiman last year, whilst discussing plans and strategic directions for the upcoming third edition of the initiative.
During the meeting, the Bono East Regional Minister reiterated his dedication to strengthening partnerships that support farmers and agribusinesses within the Bono East Region.
“Bono East is widely recognized as one of Ghana’s major food baskets, and it is important that we continue to create opportunities that support our farmers with timely access to quality agricultural inputs, the Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards provides a powerful platform to bring together farmers, input dealers and agribusinesses ahead of the planting season.
The Minister further emphasized that initiatives like the Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA) are critical in helping farmers access modern technologies, improved farming practices and quality agricultural inputs that ultimately contribute to improved yields and national food security.
‘’I am fully committed to supporting this initiative and ensuring that the upcoming edition in Techiman becomes even bigger and more impactful while highlighting the enormous agricultural potential of the Bono East Region.” He stated’’.
He also stressed the importance of positioning the Bono East Region as a strategic hub for agricultural innovation and agribusiness investment, highlighting the region’s strong agricultural base and rich farming culture.
Speaking on behalf of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa,the Executive chair for the Foundation , expressed gratitude to the Bono East Regional Minister for his continued support and leadership in promoting agricultural development initiatives.

She further noted that beyond exhibitions, the initiative creates an important platform for farmers to engage with experts, gain insights into responsible input usage and build networks that contribute to long-term agricultural sustainability.
Reflecting on the Impact of the 2nd Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA)
The 2nd Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA), organized by Agrihouse Foundation, served as a critical platform designed to help farmers address challenges faced during the pre-planting season, while promoting sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices.
The two-day event attracted farmers, agro-input dealers, agribusiness companies, policymakers, agricultural experts and development partners from across the country. Participants engaged in expert-led training sessions, product demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing engagements that focused on improving farming practices and enhancing productivity.
Held under the theme “Sustaining the Climate and Environment – The Role of Input Dealers,” the exhibition highlighted the crucial role agro-input dealers play in ensuring responsible agrochemical use, sustainable crop protection and environmentally friendly farming methods.
The event also created an important platform for farmers to interact directly with input suppliers, compare agricultural products, and learn about innovative solutions designed to improve crop productivity while protecting natural resources.
3rd Edition of the Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA)
Plans are far advanced to host the 3rd Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA) this May in Techiman in the Bono East Region.
Agrihouse Foundation, in collaboration with the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and the Agric Directorate of the Bono East Region, are working tirelessly to ensure this year’s edition is a resounding success.
The highly anticipated event is expected to attract an even larger participation of farmers, agro-input dealers, agrochemical companies, seed producers, fertilizer suppliers, and irrigation technology innovators from across the country.
Beyond knowledge sharing and business networking, the 3rd Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA) will help create opportunities for youth employment, facilitate the exploration of markets for crops and produce, and showcase cutting-edge innovations that promote productivity, sustainability, and growth in Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Agricultural Input dealers play a crucial role in planting for food, contributing to ensuring food security. Hence, their products and services are expected to be made readily available and accessible. Often, input dealers, farmers and related stakeholders in agricultural production phase, are faced with challenges in accessing, connecting and acquiring the right knowledge which will drive their decision-making to increase healthy crop production. GACA bridges this gap by offering an opportunity for networking among input dealers, farmers and related agriculture stakeholders towards each planting season.
