The 24-Hour Economy Secretariat has pledged its support for the implementation of the 2026 call to action made during the 8th Gathering of the Royals, held at the GNAT Hall in Accra on March 31, 2026.
The commitment was announced by the Head of Agribusiness at the Secretariat, Dr. Magret Agyeman, who addressed Queen Mothers, farmers, and Market Queens on behalf of the Presidential Advisor of the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, Dr. Goosie Tanoh.
She explained that the 24-Hour Economy initiative is focused on creating efficient markets and year-round job opportunities across farming, processing, logistics, trading, and services. In line with this vision, she expressed the Secretariat’s readiness to support this year’s call to action.
Dr. Agyeman outlined key steps the Secretariat will take to support the call to action. She said a focal point will be appointed to work closely with Agrihouse Foundation and a selected group of Queen Mothers. Together, they will develop a short-term action plan from the 8th Gathering of the Royals, focusing on one or two pilot agri-classes that can be supported within the 24-hour economy framework this year.
“This will help ensure that the call to action we make today leads to coordinated investments, clear responsibilities, and measurable results. As a Secretariat, we also want the Coordination Committee to develop a strong strategy and guide implementation,” she noted.
She further added that the Secretariat is ready to play an active role in the coordination process and support the development of the action plan. She also took a moment to commend Queen Mothers and traditional leaders for their consistent leadership and commitment to community development.
On her part, the Executive Chair of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, expressed appreciation for the Secretariat’s presence and support. She noted that such commitments will go a long way in helping to scale up the tomato production project highlighted in this year’s call to action.
The event, held under the theme “Seed of Change: From Leadership to Legacy – Women Transforming the Agrifood Systems,” focused on creating dignified agricultural jobs through sustainable farming practices. It brought together Queen Mothers, Market Queens, policymakers, and key stakeholders within the agrifood value chain.
The Gathering of the Royals continues to serve as a strong platform that turns conversations into action. Since its inception, it has impacted over 3,700 individuals and engaged more than 2,300 Queen Mothers across various communities.
