Yara Ghana has unveiled two new fertilizer solutions, Yara Winner Plus and Yara Legume, as part of efforts to provide farmers with crop-specific nutrition solutions that improve productivity, enhance crop quality, increase profitability, and contribute to Ghana’s food security.
The new fertilizers were unveiled in Walewale in the North East Region, have been specifically formulated to support farmers cultivating fruits, vegetables, legumes, and rice while advancing Yara’s global mission of “Responsibly Feeding the World and Protecting the Planet.”
Speaking at the launch, the Country Director of Yara Ghana, Mrs. Theresa Rudolph, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Ghanaian farmers with innovative, science-based fertilizer solutions tailored to their production needs.
She explained that Yara Ghana continues to work closely with farmers and agricultural stakeholders to develop products that respond to the realities of Ghana’s farming environment, including changing climatic conditions and the need for improved farm productivity.
“We are committed to providing our smallholder farmers with the right crop nutrition solutions to enable them to achieve optimal yields, improve their incomes, and enhance their livelihoods. Recognizing the need for products designed for different crop segments, ,” she said.
Through our strong agronomic expertise, we have developed the Yara Winner Plus and Yara Legume , crop nutrition solutions that will improve not only yields but also crop quality, ensuring better outcomes for farmers every season,” she added.
She further assured farmers that Yara Ghana would continue to place their needs at the centre of its operations by delivering sustainable and practical solutions that improve productivity, resilience, and profitability.
The North East Regional Director of Agriculture, Mr. Edward Nasara, welcomed the introduction of the new fertilizer products, describing Yara Ghana as a valuable partner in Ghana’s agricultural development.
He assured farmers that the Department of Agriculture would continue collaborating with Yara Ghana through extension services, farmer education, and technical support to ensure that farmers fully benefit from the new fertilizer solutions.
Mr. Nasara noted that the introduction of the products would contribute to increased agricultural productivity, improved farmers’ incomes, and greater youth participation in agriculture, particularly in vegetable production.
He explained that encouraging more young people to engage in farming would create employment opportunities and contribute to reducing rural-urban migration.
He therefore encouraged farmers to adopt the new fertilizer solutions and follow recommended application practices to achieve improved yields and sustainable production.
In an interview with some Farmers at the event ,they expressed confidence in the new fertilizer products, citing their previous positive experiences with Yara fertilizers.
They expressed optimism that Yara Winner Plus and Yara Legume would further improve the production of soybeans, beans, vegetables, rice, and other crops while enhancing their farm productivity and profitability.

Yara Winner Plus
Yara Winner Plus is a specially formulated NPK fertilizer designed for fruiting crops, vegetables, and cereals such as rice. It provides balanced nutrition through readily available nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, supporting healthy crop growth, improved quality, and increased yields.
Recommended Application: Basal application, two weeks after planting.
Formula: NPK 15-9-20 + 1.3MgO + 2.4S + 4.3CaO + 0.7Zn

Yara Legume
Yara Legume is an NPK fertilizer blend specifically developed for leguminous crops such as soybeans, cowpeas, groundnuts, and other pulse crops.
The fertilizer contains essential nutrients, including sulphur, calcium, and boron, which support flowering, nodulation, pod formation, grain quality, and overall crop productivity.
Recommended Application: Basal application, two weeks after planting.
Formula: NPK 4-18-13 + 3MgO + 3S + 6CaO + 0.1B
