The Ghana Cocoa Board has officially announced the commencement of purchases for the 2024 Light Crop Cocoa Season, setting the stage for cocoa farmers and stakeholders to engage in the new season with clear pricing information and expectations.

In a press release dated 17th June 2024, addressed to all media houses and the general public, the Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board notified that purchases for the 2024 Light Crop Cocoa Season will begin on Friday, 21st June 2024.

The press release details the producer prices to be paid at all buying centers. Grade I and II cocoa beans will be purchased at GH₵993.60 per load of 30 kilograms, naked ex-scale. Alternatively, the price is GH₵2,070.00 per bag of 64 kilograms gross.

For those looking at larger quantities, a tonne of 16 bags will cost GH₵33,120.00.

This announcement comes at a crucial time for cocoa farmers across Ghana, as they prepare for the light crop season and assess their production and marketing strategies. The Ghana Cocoa Board’s pricing information provides farmers with a clear understanding of the market dynamics and ensures transparency in cocoa trade.

The cocoa industry remains a vital sector in Ghana’s economy, contributing significantly to export earnings and providing livelihoods for numerous farmers and their families. As the 2024 Light Crop Cocoa Season kicks off, stakeholders are optimistic about the potential for a successful and prosperous season, bolstered by fair pricing and efficient market operations.

Farmers, buyers, and industry experts are encouraged to stay updated with the Ghana Cocoa Board’s guidelines and regulations to ensure smooth transactions and sustainable growth in the cocoa sector.
