Agrihouse Foundation has officially set the stage for the 8th edition of its flagship initiative, the Gathering of the Royals, following a press briefing held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at its office in Dzorwulu, Accra.

The briefing served as a key engagement with the media, partners, and stakeholders to outline preparations for the highly anticipated event, which continues to stand as Ghana’s leading platform for Queen Mothers, traditional authorities, policymakers, and agribusiness actors to deliberate and drive solutions within the agricultural sector.

Scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the GNAT Hall in Accra, this year’s edition will be held under the theme: “Seeds of Change: From Leadership to Legacy – Women Transforming the Agrifood System.” The theme reflects the growing leadership of women in agriculture and their pivotal role in strengthening food systems and rural livelihoods.

Over the past seven years, the Gathering of the Royals has brought together more than 3,700 women farmers, Queen Mothers, and agribusiness champions, fostering dialogue, mentorship, and practical interventions across Ghana’s agricultural value chain.

Addressing the media, the Executive Chair of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, emphasized that this year’s edition marks a decisive shift from advocacy to measurable outcomes.

“Last year, we issued a strong call to action, urging stakeholders and partners to step forward and support women in agriculture. This year, we are moving beyond that call we are focusing on commitment to action,” she stated.

She emphasized that the 2026 edition is purposefully designed to move discussions toward concrete impact.

“We are deepening our interventions to ensure that what we discuss does not end on the platform. We are committed to delivering real support through capacity building, resource distribution, and direct investment in women and youth agripreneurs.” She noted

Highlighting what sets this year apart, she underscored a stronger focus on inclusivity, directly linking it to global efforts to recognize women in agriculture.

“This year, our approach to inclusivity is very intentional. As we align with the global observance of the International Year of the Woman Farmer, we are making conscious efforts to recognize and include women farmers with disabilities and those at the grassroots who are often overlooked. It is important that every woman contributing to our agrifood systems is seen, supported, and empowered.” She explained

She further noted that youth empowerment and support for queen mothers remain central to this year’s strategy, with scaled-up interventions such as the Royal Agribooster Programme and the Nkoko Nkitinkiti initiative aimed at equipping beneficiaries with the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to succeed in agribusiness.

Key Highlights of the 2026 Edition

The 8th Gathering of the Royals will feature high-level panel discussions involving Queen Mothers from across all 16 regions, exhibitions by agribusiness players, and strategic call-to-action sessions aimed at influencing policy and investment.

A major highlight will be the recognition of women farmers with disabilities, reinforcing the event’s commitment to inclusivity within the agricultural sector. Selected development organizations will also be honored for their contributions to advancing agriculture and supporting rural livelihoods.

In line with its commitment to action, Agrihouse Foundation will roll out direct support initiatives, including the distribution of day-old chicks (Nkoko Nkititi)  to Queen Mothers across the country, helping to strengthen livelihoods and promote sustainable agribusiness.

Reflecting on the 2025 Edition

The 2025 Gathering of the Royals focused strongly on advocacy and recognition. One of its key highlights was the presentation of the prestigious Nana Konadu Agyeman – Rawlings Legacy Honors, which celebrated women who are persevering, pushing boundaries, and who are trying and striving to fight tirelessly for their goals.

The event also amplified the voices of women farmers and traditional leaders, calling for increased support, investment, and policy attention within the agricultural sector.

Building on that momentum, the 2026 edition seeks to translate those calls into concrete actions and measurable outcomes.

Queen Mothers Reaffirm Commitment

Delivering remarks on behalf of the Queen Mothers Foundation, its President, Nana Amma Serwaa Bonsu, commended Agrihouse Foundation for sustaining a platform that continues to elevate the role of traditional leaders in agriculture.

“This Gathering of the Royals initiative is one of the most powerful and respected platforms that helps policymakers, investors, and stakeholders understand grassroots agricultural issues and the critical role queen mothers play in strengthening our communities,” she said.

She emphasized the active role many Queen Mothers play as farmers and community leaders.

“Women are the feeders of the nation, and we need to be duly recognized and supported to do more. This platform continues to project the industrious role women leaders are playing in advancing our food systems,” she added.

She also applauded Agrihouse Foundation for consistently delivering on its commitments, noting that queen mothers who participated in the 2025 edition will receive their day-old chicks this year as part of the organization’s commitment to action and tangible impact.

A Renewed Call for Collective Action

As preparations intensify, Agrihouse Foundation is calling on development partners, private sector players, and the general public to support and participate in this year’s event.

With a renewed focus on “commitment to action,” the 8th Gathering of the Royals is expected to go beyond dialogue to deliver lasting impact empowering women, engaging youth, and strengthening Ghana’s agrifood systems for the future.
