The Government of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming Axim’s local economy by leveraging its rich agricultural, fisheries, and cultural assets through targeted industrialisation and public-private partnerships.
Speaking on Thursday, 10th September 2026, at the Axim Business Summit 2026 held in Axim, the Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi (MP), delivering a speech on behalf of the Sector Minister, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, stated that the realigned Ministry now treats production, processing, and trade as one continuous value chain to drive sustainable development and job creation.
He noted that Axim possesses extraordinary abundance hosting 13 landing beaches, fertile land for cash crops, and historic monuments like Fort Saint Anthony, which must be fully connected to capital, processing infrastructure, and global markets under the AfCFTA. Adopting strategic policies will help local enterprises retain more
value, scale up production, and gain international market confidence.
The Deputy Minister highlighted key policy instruments under the Mahama administration, including the National Agribusiness Policy, the Feed the Industry Programme, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, and the 24-Hour Economy Policy, aimed at driving agro-processing, revitalising the blue economy, empowering women and youth, and making “Made in Axim” a recognized mark of quality.
Co-chaired by His Royal Majesty Awulae Atubrukusu III (President, Lower Axim Traditional Council) and His Royal Majesty Awulae Kwaw Armah II (President, Upper Axim Traditional Council), the summit underscored the critical role of traditional authorities in driving sustainable local development.
