The Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana (COA) has unveiled ambitious plans to establish the nation’s first Blue Food Innovation Hub. The initiative is being developed in collaboration with global strategic partners, including the World Economic Forum (WEF), positioning the hub as a pioneering effort in Ghana.
Speaking exclusively with Agriwatchgh News, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, Mr. Jacob Adzikah, confirmed the launch is scheduled for February 2026.
“We are working to establish the first Blue Food Innovation Hub in Ghana by cooperating with our partners in diverse ways to ensure that we build a very solid, resilient, and sustainable hub,” Mr. Adzikah stated. “We are planning to launch the hub in February, 2026.”

The establishment of the Blue Food Innovation Hub is touted as a crucial move to significantly accelerate the growth and sustainability of Ghana’s blue food sector. Mr. Adzikah highlighted that partnering with the WEF, which leads the Blue Food Partnership (BFP), provides essential high-level strategic guidance and global networking capabilities.
He emphasized that the creation of the hub is designed to address lingering challenges in the aquaculture and inland fishing sectors.
“The key point of the establishment of the Blue Food Innovation Hub is to help members unlock opportunities, unlock financing, and innovations that will make private sector workers more efficient with their work and also to create more market for the blue food products,” he explained. The COA’s strategy and road-map for the hub necessitated extensive stakeholder engagement and research to ensure industry comprehension and effective policy implementation.

This strategy involves collaboration with key regulatory and sustainability bodies, including the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MOFAD), the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC). The ASC partnership specifically aims to strengthen the farmed seafood sector by promoting international certification and sustainable practices.
The latest stakeholder engagement was a validation workshop for the Ghana Blue Food Innovation Hub, held in Accra on Thursday, December 11, 2025. The workshop brought together public and private sector blue food actors to discuss the COA and partners’ research findings, deployed strategies, and the road-map ahead of the launch.
Mr. Adzikah concluded by emphasizing the broad scope of the hub, stating it would not be focused solely on farming but would also welcome inland fishing expeditions and all actors across the value chain to create a vibrant environment for growth.
