According to the Bank of Ghana’s November 2025 Monetary Policy Report, container traffic at the Tema and Takoradi ports rose sharply in September 2025, highlighting improved international trade flows.
Total laden container traffic covering both imports and exports jumped by 20.6 percent year-on-year to 73,648 containers, up from 61,093 recorded in the same period last year.
The momentum was sustained over the year, with cumulative container traffic for the first three quarters of 2025 increasing by 23.2 percent to 647,536, compared with 525,623 in the corresponding period of 2024.
In contrast, Passenger arrivals declined marginally by 1.3 percent year-on-year to 102,078 in September 2025, down from 103,387 a year earlier. On a month-on-month basis, arrivals fell by 10.5 percent.
Cumulatively, passenger arrivals for the first nine months of 2025 remained largely flat at 938,210 across the international airport and land borders, compared with 941,692 recorded over the same period in 2024.
