The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry on Wednesday March 11, 2026, received a six-member delegation from Ukraine as part of efforts to deepen trade and investment cooperation between Ghana and Ukraine.

The delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Minister for Trade,Agribusiness and Industry Hon. Sampson Ahi on behalf of the sector minister. He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries.

Speaking during the meeting, the Deputy Minister touched on Ghana’s continued solidarity with Ukraine and emphasized the importance of the trade and investment agreement signed on June 10, 2022, between the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Council of Exporters and Investors of Ukraine, which provides a framework for enhanced economic collaboration.

Hon. Sampson Ahi noted that Ghana already maintains strong trade ties with Ukraine, including exports such as manganese and cocoa products, while importing commodities like fertilizers, cooking oil and other agricultural inputs from Ukraine. He added that the Government of Ghana is placing renewed emphasis on agribusiness by focusing on the commercial aspects of farming, particularly value addition after production and also to feed local industries.

“Ghana is positioning itself as the center for business in Africa,” he stated, adding that companies that establish operations in Ghana gain access to the vast 1.4 billion consumer market under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), whose Secretariat is hosted in Accra.

Hon. Sampson Ahi assured the delegation of the government’s support, emphasizing that Ghana remains a peaceful, democratic and investment-friendly country where businesses can operate with confidence under the rule of law.

Leading the Ukrainian delegation, Volodymyr Korchun introduced his company LNZ’s agricultural operations and expressed strong interest in exploring investment opportunities in Ghana. He highlighted Ukraine’s expertise in large-scale agriculture, including seed production, fertilizers, crop protection products, and modern farming technologies.

The delegation also presented innovative agricultural solutions, including hybrid seeds and agronomic support systems designed to improve productivity for farmers.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry to attract strategic partnerships that will strengthen Ghana’s agribusiness sector, promote technology transfer, and enhance agricultural productivity while’s making Ghana the manufacturing hub in Africa.
