The Government of Ghana, in collaboration with AGRA, will on Wednesday 3rd September 2025 , host a high-level Deal Room session at the ongoing Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF) 2025 in Dakar, Senegal. The session is designed to attract strategic investments into Ghana’s agricultural sector and strengthen the country’s role as a hub for agribusiness in West Africa.
The Deal Room will be spearheaded by Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, and Presidential Advisor for 24-Hour Economy & Accelerated Export Development, Augustus Obuadum Goosie Tanoh, who will present Ghana’s investment priorities to an international audience of policymakers, investors, agribusiness leaders, and development partners.
Ghana Deal Room: Feeding Prosperity Through Smart Investments
Held under the theme “Feeding Prosperity Through Smart Investments in Ghana,” the Ghana Deal Room will showcase opportunities designed to:

Expand youth employment in agriculture,

Reduce import dependency,

Drive value addition and agro-industrialization, and
-
Promote climate-smart, resilient economic growth.
Key focus areas will include investment in rice, soya, poultry, and vegetable production, alongside measures to reduce post-harvest losses and strengthen public-private partnerships that are already delivering transformative change.
Ghana as a Strategic Agribusiness Hub
Organizers note that Ghana remains a natural hub for agribusiness investment in Africa. With access to a market of more than 350 million people in the ECOWAS region, strong political commitment, and clear policy frameworks such as the Feed Ghana Programme and the 24-Hour Economy initiative, Ghana is well positioned to lead food systems transformation on the continent.
The country’s vast arable land, diverse agroecological zones, and rapidly growing agripreneurial ecosystem further highlight the potential for scaling production, processing, and exports. Rising demand for processed foods such as rice and soybeans offers high-return opportunities for investors, while the country’s vibrant and tech-savvy youth population brings innovation and fresh energy into agribusiness.
Presentations and Commitments

Presidential Advisor Goosie Tanoh will lead a session on “Economic Transformation through Strategic Investments in Smart 24-Hour Agribusiness Value Chains,” spotlighting more than USD 4 billion in private sector investment potential across value chains and agro-infrastructure.

Minister Eric Opoku will detail ongoing government-led initiatives aimed at addressing challenges faced by smallholder farmers, including post-harvest losses, inadequate storage, financing gaps, and limited mechanization.
Dozens of investors and development partners are expected in the Ghana Deal Room to engage with these presentations and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Ghana’s Broader Participation at AFSF 2025
Beyond the Deal Room, Minister Opoku will participate in a Ministerial Roundtable Plenary on the theme “Biodiversity, Climate, and Land: Making the Conventions Work for Africa.”
The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, Esq., will also speak at the Youth Dome, an event celebrating young African agripreneurs. Dozens of Ghanaian youth will join the Forum, contributing their perspectives and exploring opportunities across Africa’s agri-food sector.
Significantly, Agrihouse Foundation’s Executive Director, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, who also serves as the National Lead for the World Food Forum (WFF) Ghana Chapter, will represent the African chapter of the WFF at the Forum.
she will contribute to a high-level session titled “Teranga – Host Showcase & Facts of the Day.” under the theme : The Status of Youth in Agrifood Systems a Regional Perspective: This session aims to spotlight dynamic, youth-led initiatives that are transforming local food systems through innovation, resilience, and inclusivity.
Her participation aims to amplify the voices of young agricultural leaders while strengthening international cooperation around youth-driven agrifood solutions.

The Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF), organized annually by AGRA, is the continent’s premier platform for action on food systems transformation. This year’s forum, themed “Africa’s Youth Leading Collaboration, Innovation, and Implementation of Agri-Food Systems Transformation,” brings together over 6,000 delegates from 113 countries, including 75+ presidents and ministers, to drive commitments and shape the future of food in Africa. The Forum runs from August 31 to September 5, 2025 in Dakar, Senegal.
