Labour, Jobs, and Employment Minister-designate, Rashid Pelpuo, has reaffirmed his commitment to fully integrating the private sector into Ghana’s economy, emphasizing its vital role in driving sustainable growth and job creation.
Speaking before the Appointments Committee during his vetting on Thursday, January 30, Mr. Pelpuo highlighted the government’s dedication to fostering a strong partnership between public institutions and private enterprises. He stressed that creating a business-friendly environment is essential for national development and economic transformation.
“The private sector is the engine of growth, and its integration into the economy must be a priority. We need to create the right conditions for businesses to thrive, expand, and innovate. This will not only drive job creation but also contribute significantly to economic resilience,” he stated.
Mr. Pelpuo further outlined key strategies to support private enterprises, including improving access to financing, streamlining regulatory frameworks, and enhancing workforce skills development. He underscored that a well-structured collaboration between the government and private sector stakeholders would lead to increased employment opportunities and long-term economic stability.
He assured that under his leadership, policies would be designed to strengthen Ghana’s business climate, ensuring that local industries and entrepreneurs are empowered to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic growth.
