The Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Directorate (PPRSD) has reiterated the need for responsible input use to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
Speaking at the press briefing of Agrihouse Foundation’s 2nd Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA), the Deputy Director of the Pesticides and Fertilizers Regulatory Division, Mr. Christopher Gaitu, who represented the Director of PPRSD, Mr. Eric Bentsil Quaye, emphasized the critical role input dealers play in ensuring safe and sustainable farming practices.
”Climate change continues to pose serious challenges to our agricultural sector, affecting rainfall patterns, soil fertility, and pest and disease dynamics. These realities demand a shift towards responsible and sustainable input use to safeguard both productivity and environmental health,” he stated.
He further stressed on the need of promoting eco-friendly agricultural inputs such as bio-pesticides, organic fertilizers, and precision farming technologies, which help reduce agriculture’s carbon footprint and mitigate the long-term effects of climate change.
Reflecting on the success of last year’s event, he highlighted how the event has become a vital platform for industry leaders, farmers, and stakeholders to engage in discussions on responsible input usage, innovative agrochemical solutions, and climate-smart agricultural practices.
Additionally, he called for stronger collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and development organizations to establish policies that encourage responsible agrochemical use, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and enhance knowledge-sharing across the agricultural value chain.
Commending Agrihouse Foundation for its continued efforts in advancing Ghana’s agricultural sector, he noted that the success of last year’s event demonstrated the importance of fostering partnerships, innovation, and investment in sustainable farming practices.

The impact of last year’s edition underscores the need for ongoing collaboration to ensure that input dealers and farmers adopt best practices that support environmental sustainability and agricultural productivity,” he added.
The 2nd Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards is scheduled to take place on March 27–28, 2025, at the Techiman Community Center in the Bono Region, serves as a strategic platform for farmers, agrochemical companies, policymakers, and environmental experts to discuss emerging trends, explore innovations in crop protection, and celebrate excellence in sustainable agricultural input supply.
