The 41st Farmers’ Day Food and Agricultural Exhibitions has officially been launched today December 1, 2025 in Ho of the Volta Region.
The five-day long event which opens the celebration of Farmers’ Day grand durbar and Awards, kick-started in a grand style in the Ho Sports Stadium with activities commencing at 10:00 AM.
The opening ceremony was led by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, with supportive hands from the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Volta Regional House of Chiefs in collaboration with other Agrihouse Foundation.
The Agric Fair brought together farmers, agribusiness stakeholders, government agencies, development partners, Universities, Senior High Schools, and the general public to celebrate excellence in agriculture while showcasing Ghana’s rich agricultural produce.
The event was held under the inspiring theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” this year’s celebration highlights the urgent need for food security, local production, and sustainable farming practices. The event also aims to promote innovation in agriculture, strengthening Ghana’s drive towards self-sufficiency and economic resilience.
Delivering his key note address, Hon. Eric Opoku highlighted that “the theme for this years Farmers’ Day Celebration ‘Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the future’ is more than a slogan. It is a call to action, reminding us of our duty to enhance food production, build resilient food system for the future.”
The Minister said the Food and Agricultural Fair and Exhibitions will serve as platform for networking and collaboration among exhibitors, schools, universities, government and private institutions, and all stakeholders to act positively to solve existing issues in the sector to secure Ghana’s future.
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu added that “this year’s theme ‘Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future’ is not only timely but deeply aligns with our national vision of strengthening food security and expanding agro-based industries and promoting sustainable livelihoods for our people.”
Hon. Gunu therefore thanked the president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku for selecting the Volta Region for this year’s national Farmers’ Day Celebration.
Ms. Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa led the Minister and his entourage, stakeholders, and all protocols inspect the various agricultural produce, machineries, and other products as showcased by exhibitors. She indicated that about 250 exhibitors are expected to participate in the event as over 135 have already taken their place in the opening ceremony.
In addition to the official proceedings, the Agric Fair featured exhibitions of farm produce, livestock, fisheries, modern farming equipment, and agribusiness solutions, offering participants an opportunity to network, learn, and invest in the sector’s future.
