Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, Ms. Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, has encouraged Israeli Agribusiness investors and entrepreneurs looking to explore new opportunities in Ghana’s agricultural sector to partner small-scale agribusinesses in the country.
She said a sector like the animal agricultural sector, which includes livestock, poultry and fisheries, is still a virgin area with several gaps that needs attention, even though lately, local investors are turning their attention to it.
This situation, she said, is a door of opportunity for Israeli and foreign Agribusiness investors and entrepreneurs who desire to invest in the area to come into the country and partner local investors on large commercial basis.
Ms. Akosa made this known in her presentation, speaking at the Israeli Doing Business in Africa 101: Agriculture Forum, with took place via Zoom Conference Call yesterday.
She noted that Israeli and foreign agribusinesses looking to come to Ghana, can also take advantage of private-public partnerships with government; participate in local agri-fairs, have local representation; consider franchising; be speakers at agri-seminars and workshops and build alliances with farmer groups in the country.
She said, some government agri-initiatives available include, planting for food and jobs; rearing for food and jobs; planting for exports and rural development; one district, one factory project; tree crop development board; training extension officers, among others.
Touching on areas in Ghana’s agricultural sector, lacking support but worth investing in, Ms. Akosa listed Mechanization centres, home gardening tools; transportation, irrigation dams, solar systems, livestock equipment, abattoirs, animal milk processing and establishing module farms and training centres.
She disclosed that Agrihouse Foundation has recently acquired a vast piece of land in the Northern region and has intentions of developing module farms and training centres on it.
She therefore used the opportunity to urge agri-investors interested in building capacity and making impact in that area of agriculture to collaborate with Agrihouse Foundation on such projects.

The Forum is the first in series of forums to be organized by the Embassy of Israel in Ghana, in partnership with Israel Export institute and the Ministry of Economy and Industry (Foreign Trade Administration)
