The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has tasked the Central Region office of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) to provide a water supply timetable to enable consumers to plan their daily activities.
The Commission said the provision of a clear and reliable timetable would help consumers manage their water needs, particularly in areas experiencing irregular water supply.
Dr Shanice Suleman, the Executive Director of the Commission said the move was expected to improve communication between GWL and consumers while ensuring that households, businesses and institutions were adequately informed about the availability of water in their respective communities.
He made the call when he visited the Region to assess the water and electricity situation to have first-hand knowledge on the issues and challenges on the ground and help find solutions to them.
The PURC said access to information on water distribution schedules was essential to helping consumers make appropriate arrangements for their domestic and commercial activities.
He urged GWL to strengthen its engagement with consumers and provide timely information on interruptions, maintenance works and changes in water distribution schedules.
The Commission said effective communication between utility providers and consumers was important in addressing concerns and improving service delivery.
The PURC, which regulates the utility services in the country, has continued to engage providers to address consumer complaints and promote efficient service delivery.
