President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Andy Osei Okrah as the Ag Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority.
Mr. Okrah, a former Director of Human Resource of the Forestry Commission also served in the first administration of President Mahama as Deputy Minister of the Ashanti Region.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Okrah was grateful for the trust and confidence reposed in him and pledged to work tirelessly to drive the growth and development of Ghana’s tree crops industry.
“I am reminded of the immense potential of Ghana’s tree crops sector, which has the capacity to transform the lives of millions of Ghanaians, create jobs, and contribute significantly to our nation’s economic growth. From cashew to shea, mango to coconut, rubber to oil palm, our tree crops are a treasure trove of opportunities waiting to be harnessed,” he said.
According to Mr Okrah, “My primary focus will be to regulate and develop the tree crops sector in a sustainable environment, ensuring that our production, processing, and trading activities are aligned with global best practices. We will work closely with stakeholders, including farmers, processors, traders, exporters, donors and partners to address the challenges facing the industry and create an enabling environment for growth.”
He reiterated his commitment to build on the foundation laid by my predecessors and taking the TCDA to new heights. We will use research and development, capacity building, and market access to ensure that our tree crops sector becomes a significant contributor to Ghana’s economic transformation.
Together, we will make TCDA an Authority of choice and a great place to work and do business with.
“Once again, I thank the President of the Republic of Ghana for this incredible opportunity. I also thank my friends of the press and colleagues for their warm reception and unwavering support,” he said.
He called on all to help work together, towards a brighter future for Ghana’s tree crops sector .
