The Bono Regional Minister, Hon.Joseph Adae Akwaboah ,has highlighted the economic prospects of the region, pledging to leverage the poultry, cashew and tourism sectors to create jobs for the youth.
The Minister said he had been worried for years that the viable economic potential in the region remained untapped, urging the media to help project and thereby attract investments into the region.
“I am a very young man with connections, and only if you will support me will we be in the position to tap into and harness the numerous economic prospects of our region for job creation and progressive development,” he stated when he interacted with the media in Sunyani.
The regional minister stressed that job creation and poverty reduction remained his priority, saying “as we speak now, we have so much potential in the poultry and cashew and tourism sectors”.
“We need investments to build small scale industries to get optimum benefit from the cashew from the apples to the nuts,” he stated.
Another challenging concern, he mentioned was the deplorable condition of access roads in the Sunyani Municipality, assuring that very soon construction work would be on the Sunyani outer road from the Alaska junction linking New-Dormaa.
“I just learnt that the Sunyani City inner road was being put up by some Chinese contractors who have abandoned the project. But I assure you we are reaching out to them, and we will know what to do if they fail to come back on the road”.
