Beneficiaries of Agrihouse Foundation’s Boost to Bloom Project in the Northern and Upper East Region have received fencing materials to enhance and protect crop in their various communities.
The intervention, made possible by Agrihouse Foundation, with strategic funding from AGRA and the Mastercard Foundation through the Youth Entrepreneurship for the Future of Food and Agriculture (YEFFA) programme, successfully distributed over 200 fencing materials to eight communities in the Northern and Upper East Region, namely , Bongo Soe, Sakoti, Nangodi, Biung-Nungu, Lingbinsi, Diadiboari, Yapei, and Busunu.
The distribution also forms part of a broader support package under the “Boost to Bloom” project. This package includes training in best agronomic practices, input support, mentorship, market linkages, and opportunities for sustainable income generation to strengthen beneficiaries’ capacity and resilience to improve agricultural productivity across Northern Ghana.
The project has since its inception directly supported women, youth, and persons with disabilities to venture into agriculture and expanding their agribusinesses.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, emphasized the importance of providing the right tools to empower smallholder farmers and protect their investments.
“Access to fencing materials is a vital step toward securing the hard work of our farmers. By protecting these farmlands, we hope to support these beneficiaries to improve productivity, reduce losses, and strengthen their livelihoods.
through this project we seek to reinforce our commitment to nurturing sustainable agri-enterprises across the communities we serve,” she said.
The Assembly Representative for Nangodi, Emmanuel Mba, in an interview explained that the fencing materials are currently being used to protect seedlings at their early growth stages, ensuring they are not destroyed before they are established.
He noted that once the seedlings are fully established, farmers plan to extend the fencing to larger fields to support more extensive agricultural activities.
Agrihouse Foundation remains committed to working closely with community leaders, local extension officers, and development partners to ensure that beneficiaries continue to receive guidance as they develop their farms into productive and resilient enterprises.
