Chemico Ghana Limited reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women in agriculture by partnering with Agrihouse Foundation to execute 8th Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum (WOFAGRIC) and Gold in the Soil Awards, held from July 22 to 23, 2026, in Damongo in the Savannah Region.
As both a sponsor and a technical training partner, the Ghanaian-owned agro-input company equipped participants with practical knowledge on the safe and effective use of fertilizers, herbicides and other crop protection products to improve farm productivity.
Speaking during the event, Northern Sector Manager, Musah Sinobano, said Chemico’s mission goes beyond supplying agricultural inputs. According to him, the company is committed to supporting Ghanaian farmers, particularly women, because empowering women creates lasting benefits for families and communities.
“When women farmers succeed, their families benefit as well. That is why we are always ready to support programmes that build the capacity of women and help them grow their farming businesses,” he said.
Mr. Sinobano explained that Chemico imports and distributes a wide range of agricultural products, including fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and plant growth regulators that help farmers improve yields and manage pests and weeds effectively.
He highlighted some of the company’s products designed for different crops, including herbicides for maize, legumes, rice and yam production, as well as foliar fertilizers that promote healthy crop growth and faster maturity, particularly for vegetable farmers.
According to him, introducing farmers to the right products and demonstrating their proper application are essential steps toward increasing productivity while reducing production losses.
Beyond showcasing its products, Chemico used the WOFAGRIC platform to encourage women farmers to continue investing in their farms and adopting improved farming practices.
Mr. Sinobano congratulated the winners of the 2026 Gold in the Soil Awards, describing their achievements as an inspiration to other women across the country. He also encouraged participants who did not receive awards to remain committed to their work, noting that every farmer who contributes to Ghana’s food production deserves recognition.
“Not everyone can receive an award in the same year, but every participant is making a valuable contribution. We encourage all women farmers to continue working hard, learning and improving because their time for recognition will also come,” he said.
The participation of Chemico Ghana at this year’s WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards reflects the company’s continued investment in farmer education and agricultural development. By combining technical training with support for women-focused initiatives, the company continues to contribute to building a more productive, resilient and inclusive agricultural sector in Ghana.
