Ecobank Ghana reiterate its commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs by serving as a mentor and financial partner at the 8th Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum (WOFAGRIC) and Gold in the Soil Awards.
The regional rotational event organized by Agrihouse Foundation was held on July 22 to 23, 2026, in Damongo, Savannah Region.
The bank joined other development partners and industry players to equip women farmers and agripreneurs with practical knowledge and financial solutions that can help them build stronger and more sustainable businesses.
Speaking at the event, the Northern Regional Branch Manager of Ecobank Ghana, Isifu Adam, said supporting women-owned businesses remains a key part of the bank’s strategy because women play a critical role in the economic growth of families, communities and the country.
According to him, Ecobank has developed tailored financial products to meet the unique needs of women entrepreneurs, helping them expand their businesses and achieve long-term success.
One of these flagship initiatives is Ecobank Elevate, a banking solution created specifically for women-owned businesses. The programme offers subsidized interest rates, financial advisory services, business training and capacity-building opportunities to help women strengthen their enterprises and become more competitive.
Mr. Adam explained that access to finance alone is not enough to grow a successful business. He noted that women also need the right skills, knowledge and mentorship to manage and scale their enterprises, which is why Ecobank continues to invest in training and business development programmes.
He said the bank believes that empowering women entrepreneurs creates a ripple effect across society, as successful women invest in their families, create employment opportunities and contribute to national economic development.
“Woman-owned businesses are important drivers of economic growth. When women succeed, households become stronger, communities prosper and the nation benefits,” he said.
As a mentor at this year’s WOFAGRIC forum, Ecobank engaged participants on the financial opportunities available to agribusinesses and encouraged women farmers to take advantage of banking products designed to support their growth.
Mr. Adam also congratulated the winners of the 2026 Gold in the Soil Awards for their outstanding achievements and dedication to agriculture. He encouraged participants who did not receive awards this year to remain committed to their businesses and continue striving for excellence.
He expressed confidence that with determination, continuous learning and the right support, many more women would be recognised in future editions of the awards.
