Mrs. Dzidzinyo K Fianu, a 45-year-old Accountant turned full-time farmer, who has emerged as a prominent figure in the agricultural landscape of New Juaben south.
Mrs. Fianu’s journey into farming began during her childhood, where what started as a punishment from her father eventually ignited a lifelong passion for agriculture.
Driven by the unwavering support and motivation from her father, Mrs. Fianu embraced farming and transformed it into a thriving business. Today, she cultivates a diverse range of crops, including maize, yam, cassava, tomatoes, pepper, garden eggs, rice, cocoyam, and beans. Her dedication and commitment to farming have led to her success, evident in the impressive 20 acres of farmland she manages.
In addition to her crop cultivation, Mrs. Fianu has also ventured into livestock farming. She currently maintains a poultry farm with 350 birds and an impressive 120 snails, demonstrating her determination to explore various agricultural opportunities.
Mrs. Fianu’s remarkable achievements and her contributions to the agricultural sector have not gone unnoticed. She is now vying for the prestigious Change Champion Award, which recognizes individuals who have made significant strides in transforming the agricultural landscape through innovation, sustainability, and community impact.

Agrihouse Foundation’s production team is presently embarking on a journey across all 33 districts in the Eastern Region,their mission is to document the remarkable achievements of 62 nominated women farmers and farmers with disabilities in the Eastern Region, for the upcoming 5th Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum (WOFAGRIC) & The Gold in the Soil Awards. By shedding light on their outstanding contributions, the team aims to inspire others in the agricultural sector.
Travelling from district to district, the production team captures stories of resilience, innovation, and success, showcasing the immense talent and achievement .
Their efforts aims to make a profound impact by highlighting the incredible contributions of women farmers and farmers with disabilities, who pave the way for a more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous agricultural sector that recognizes the vital role of women in shaping the future of food security.
Global Affairs Canada has for the past five years shown a continued commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of women farmers by sponsoring Agrihouse Foundation’s production team,other key partners for this years 5th WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil awards also includes Yara Ghana , RDF Ghana LBG and World Food Program.

The winner of the Change Champion Award will be announced at the 5th WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards, scheduled for July 26-27 at the Bedtime hotel Koforidua in the Eastern Region under the theme “OVERCOMING THE BARRIERS TO WOMEN AGRIBUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: THE ROLE OF STAKEHOLDERS,” promise to be a momentous occasion. These events will bring together stakeholders, industry leaders, and women farmers and farmers with disability to celebrate achievements, share knowledge, and pave the way for a more inclusive and prosperous agricultural sector.
